AIOS Fellowships & Forms


AIOS gives a number of fellowships to its member ophthalmologists every year. Details of the fellowships, eligibility criteria, procedure to apply are given below :

AIOS Guidelines of AIOS-ARC Fellowships

All Applications for ARC fellowships should be duly recommended by the Zonal Member of the ARC and sent to the Chairman-ARC.

AIOS / ARC Trainee Fellowship / G.K. Saraf Trainee Fellowship for Young Ophthalmologists(Download Form) 10 10,000 The duration of training shall be 4 weeks in any of the Institutions as approved by the ARC. However, the Institution should be out side the state from which the candidate is the member. The member should not be more than 40 years of age and has successfully completed MS/MD (Ophthalmology) / Equivalent Post. Graduation in Ophthalmology during the last 5 years

AIOS / ARC Trainee Fellowship for Senior Ophthalmologists(Download Form) 5 25,000 The duration of training shall be 4-6 weeks in any of the Institutions as approved by the ARC. The Institution should be out side the state from which the candidate is the member and the member should be more than 40 years of age.

Financial Assistance from AIOS for conducting CME programs by the state/ Other Affiliated Societies 10 20,000
  • A The Society seeking such Financial Assistance from AIOS for conducting CME Programme should be affiliated to AIOS (Not in arrears)
  • The proposal for Financial Assistance should be sent to the Chairman ARC through the Zonal Member of the ARC.
  • The Proposal should reach the Chairman-ARC at least two months in advance from the proposed date of Workshop.
  • If it is not a State Society the proposal should be on the specific recommendations of the State Ophthalmic Society and then routed to the Chairman-ARC through the Zonal Member of the ARC.
  • Prior approval of the ARC is absolutely essential for any such Financial Assistance.
  • After the Workshop it is the duty of the Organizing Secretary / Secretary/ President of the Society to ensure that a Report and a Statement of Income and Expenditure of the Conference is sent to the Chairman-ARC and only then the grant will be released.
  • The amount of grant in each case will be at the discretion of the Chairman-ARC but it should not in any case exceed Rs.20,000/- for any one workshop.
  • The Total No. of cases for such Financial Assistance in a year should not be more than 10 (Ten – not more than one per State per financial year).
  • In case of Affiliated State Societies where they hold their Annual Conference they may consider to invite President AIOS to attend such Conference and if he attends he may be given suitable honor and may also be allowed to speak for a few minutes.

  • The CME Programme shall be organized at small cities/ towns / far flung areas where such programmes are deficient or rarely held.
  • The applicants, i.e. Chairman Organising Committee and Organising Secretary should be Members of the All India Ophthalmological Society of good standing.
  • ARC Zonal Member shall choose the venue in his / her zone to conduct the CME Programme. There will be maximum of one Programme in a year in each Zone.
  • This CME Programme shall not be a part of any other state Society Meeting and shall not require any approval from the State Society.
  • The Proposal from the Organising Secretary of the CME Programme should reach the Chairman ARC through the Zonal Member at least two months prior to the proposed date of workshop.
  • The Amount of Financial Assistance shall be sanctioned at discretion of the Chairman ARC but in any case it should not exceed more than Rs.30,000/- in each case. It shall be released in the name of the Conference account or any other account as may be, intimated by the Zonal Member for this purpose. Preferably speakers (s) from the same Zone may be invited. On request 50% of the amount can be paid, in an advance one month prior to the date of the Workshop.
  • The accounts shall be submitted to the Chairman ARC by the Organising Secretary within a month after the CME Programme but in any case within the same financial year in which the grant is released.
  • A Report of this programme shall be sent by the Zonal Member of the Chairman – ARC within one Month of the Programme.

esearch Award to Young Ophthalmologists (Download Form) 2   DNB (ophthalmology) degree will also be eligible along with the MS/ MD (ophthalmology) Degree. For presenting thesis work in Young Researchers Session. A total of 12 Research Works done in the form of Theses by young ophthalmologists will be included for presentation. Thesis work of only those PGs will be considered for this Award who are member of the AIOS. Rs.5, 000/- will be awarded to each 2 best Research during the next inaugural session. However, all participants will be given "Certificate of Excellence in Research" for their presentation. The desired participants will have to apply on the prescribed proforma.
