AIOS 5-point
As President of All Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) and on behalf of all AIOS members, we strongly condemn the incident occurred on Friday, November 01, 2019 in Minto Ophthalmic Hospital (BMCRI), Bengaluru Karnataka when a mob of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike confronted a post graduate lady doctor on duty for not speaking in Kannada. There is procedure to reach the head of the departments for complains. But manhandling the innocent lady doctor is not acceptable. As belonging to Indian culture, we should always respect a lady. Every hospital and state should have a safe working culture for the doctors. Every state should respect the people coming from different states to render the service.

As Nov 14th is considered as the “World Diabetes Day”, AIOS has declared the month of November 2019 as “Diabetes & EYEcare”.
We are in process of conducting free Diabetic Retinopathy screening all over India. We are requesting all the doctors from K to K & K to A (Kanyakumari to Kashmir and Kutch to a road which links the strategically important Tama Chung Chung-Taksing Axis near the India – China border in Arunachal Pradesh) to conduct free screening in every rural parts of the country. But such incident is hampering the services of the doctors.
WE REQUEST FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION AGAINST SUCH PERPETRATORS AND ALSO TO PROVIDE SECURITY TO ALL THE DOCTORS IN EVERY PART OF THE STATE AND COUNTRY.
