AIOS Awards and Orations

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

  1. Any Member of the Society who is eligible for the Award shall be entitled to be considered for the same. If he is a Member of any Committee discussing the selection of Award, he will withdraw from the discussion at that time.
  2. All Awards shall be once in four years/two years/ annually as provided in the bye-laws.
  3. No Awards shall be given to the same person twice.
  4. Recipient of the Award shall be selected and recommended by the Scientific Committee, which may seek the opinion of a referee if considered necessary by the committee.
  5. All recipients of the awards shall present their work at the next conference.
  6. All Awards will be named uniformly
  7. Awards will carry a citation and a medal.

1. Adenwalla Award

i. All Senior Member of AIOS- age more than 60 years

ii. 15 years standing of AIOS

iii. For work done in India

i. Award shall be made by the nomination by the state Societies to the Chairman-Scientific Committee of Senior Members of the AIOS equal to the number of representatives from that state to the Managing Committee of the AIOS in recognition of his contribution to the Ophthalmology and the AIOS

Once in 4 years

E.V. Srinivasan Award

i. All Members of AIOS who are not in teaching cadre

ii.  For work done in India

i. Number of papers presented at scientific session of National and International Conference or published in Medical Journals.

ii. Contributions made in the field of Community Ophthalmology

iii. Number of Conferences attended both National and International

iv. Applicant will have to apply to the Chairman, Scientific Committee for the Award, giving full details of the contributions and conference participation

Once in 4 years

S. C. Dutt Award

i. All Members of AIOS below age of 40 years on 31st December of the year in which application is made.

ii. For work done in India

Best submission made in any field of Ophthalmology to the Scientific Committee

Once in 4 years

B.K. Narayan Rao Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For work done in India

For Best Paper in any field of Ophthalmology submitted to Scientific Committee

Once in 4 years

5.

Col. Rangachari Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For work done in India

Best Paper read at the special plenary session of Annual Conference

Every Year

6.

P. Siva Reddy International Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For work done any where in the World.

i.Any signification work done in Ophthalmology

ii.Application should contain specific work in detail

7.

R.P. Dhanda Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For work done in India

The award shall be given to a member who has made a composite contribution, both qualitative and quantitative in nature by doing corneal grafts, organising eye donation work & training to eye surgeons in corneal surgery and eye bank organisation.

Once in 4 years

8.

C.N. Shroff Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii.  For work done in India

The Award shall be given to a member who has made a composite contribution, both qualitative and quantitative in nature in the posterior segment of the eye

Once in 2 years

9.

K.R. Dutta Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For work done in India

This award be given once in four years based on an application made to the Chairman, Scientific Committee with details of the work done. The Application must contain the specific work in detail.

Once in 4 years

10.

R. N. Methur Award

All Members of AIOS

It shall be for outstanding ophthalmic services in the field of Medical Ophthalmology in India.
This shall be given once in four years based on an application made to the Chairman, Scientific Committee with details of the work done. The application must contain the specific work in detail.

Once in 4 years

J.S. Mahashabde Award

All Members of AIOS

Best Paper read at the Community /Social Ophthalmology session at the Annual Conference

Once in 2 years

12.

D. B. Chandra Award

 All Members of AIOS

Overall best paper read at the Glaucoma Session at the Annual Conference

Once in 2 years

P. Awasthi Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For Work done in India

It shall be for an Ophthalmologist who, after attaining 65 years of age, has done distinctive work in the Community Ophthalmology so as to reduce the Blindness in the country.

Once in 4 years

Shiv Prasad Handa Award

All Members of AIOS

Best Paper read at the Refractive Surgery Session at the Annual Conference

Every Year

15.

S. D. Athawale Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For work done in India

Best paper read at the Neuro- Ophthalmology session at the Annual Conference

Every Year

16.

Santevision Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For work done in India

Overall Best Paper read at the Cataract Session at the Annual Conference

Every year

17.

E.T. Selvam Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For work done in India

i. Best Scientific Poster presented at the Annual Conference AIOS

ii. In case of multiple authors, Award will be given to chief author who should be the Member of the Society

18.

L.C. Dutta Award

All Members of AIOS

i.      It shall be given to the Best paper for the original work done in India and published in the I.J.O. in the 4 year period preceding the year of the Award

ii. In case of Multiple authors, the Award will be given to the Chief (Corresponding) Author who should meet the above criteria

iii. The Editor-Journal will constitute a panel who will decide the best 3 papers which will then be sent to a final committee which will include the Chairman Scientific Committee, Chairman-ARC& Editor-Proceedings.

Hanumantha Reddy Award

All Members of AIOS

i. Best paper presented in the Paediatric Ophthalmology session at the Annual Conference of AIOS

ii. In case of multiple authors the Award will be given to the Chief Author who should be a Member of the Society.

One in 2 years

20.

Prem Prakash Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. For work done in India

i.     Best Paper presented in the Squint Session at the Annual Conference of AIOS

ii. In case of Multiple Authors the Award will be given to the Chief author who should be a Member of AIOS

Once in 2 years

21.

Rakesh Sharma Memorial Award

i. All Members of AIOS

ii. Not more than 40 years of age on 31st December of the year in which application is made

For Ocular Trauma work in detail

Once in 2 years

22.

Narsing A. Rao Award

All Members of AIOS

Best paper read at the Uvea Free Paper Session at the AIOS Annual Conference

Every Year

C.S. Reshmi Award

All Members of AIOS

.i. For Best Video Film Screened and Selected at the film festival during the Annual Conference of the AIOS.
ii. In case of multiple producers / authors the award will be given to the first producer / author.

iii. Winner of the Award will be required to screen the Video at the next Annual Conference

S. Natarajan Award

All Members of AIOS

i. For the Best paper presented at the Annual Conference of the Society in the Retina / Vitreous Session.

ii. Recipient of the Award will present his work at the next Conference.e

Once in 4 years

22.

Priti Natarajan Award

All the Members of the AIOS doing Eye Clinic / Eye Hospital Administration

i. Applicant should send their nominations with biodata and evidence for doing good eye clinic  / eye hospital administration.

ii. Recipient of the Award will present his work at the next Conference.

Once in 4 yearsr

23.

Life Time Achievement Award

i. The Member should not be less than 65 years of age

 ii. Life time achievements in the field of Ophthalmology

iii. Active participation in Society for 20 years

iv. Contribution in improvement of standard of Ophthalmology in India

i. The State Society may recommend one Member from their State for consideration.

 ii. No Such Member will be recommended who is not alive.

iii. Recommendations will be sent to the Chairman-Scientific Committee with 11 copies of BIO-DATA and Photograph.

Maximum 2 Awards in a year

How to Apply:

1. Refer General Guidelines narrated above
2. Send 22 hard copies of work & Photograph for General Awards
(except Free paper and Video / Poster Award) on or before 31st July, every year
3. Send 11 copies of Bio Data and Photograph for Life Time Achievement Award on or before 15th July, every Year:
4. One Member can apply for one Award only.
5. Apply to Chairman- Scientific Committee:
