AIOS Fellowships

AIOS gives a number of fellowships to its member ophthalmologists every year. Details of the fellowships, eligibility criteria, procedure to apply are given below :

All Applications for ARC fellowships should be duly recommended by the Zonal Member of the ARC and sent to the Chairman-ARC

Trainee Fellowship for Young Ophthalmologists

The duration of training shall be 4 weeks in any of the Institutions as approved by the ARC. However, the Institution should be out side the state from which the candidate is the member. The member should not be more than 40 years of age and has successfully completed MS/MD (Ophthalmology) / Equivalent Post. Graduation in Ophthalmology during the last 5 years

The duration of training shall be 4-6 weeks in any of the Institutions as approved by the ARC. The Institution should be out side the state from which the candidate is the member and the member should be more than 40 years of age.

For attending Annual Meets of the State Societies if their Research Paper is accepted by the Scientific Committee of the State Society. Papers based on Surgical results or case studies will not be considered as Research Paper.

Financial Assistance for Workshops (CME Meets)

a) CME Programme organized at smaller cities and towns or in the states where CME programme have been deficient.

b) CME Programme on a subject which pertains to imparting of basic clinical or surgical skills or which are often not covered in CME Programme.

c) The applicants, i.e. Chairman Organising Committee and Organising Secretary should be members of All India Ophthalmological Society of good standing.

d) It will be subject to the condition that the Workshop is organised under the aegis of the State Society or the proposal is recommended by the State Society. The Proposal should be sent through the Zonal member of the ARC of the concerned Zonal.

e) A Society to whom financial assistance is given is required to send a Report to the AIOS and the Chairman-ARC. Similarly such society should also send the income and expenditure accounts to the AIOS.

f) Financial Assistance to any Institution even if affiliated to the AIOS should be on the Specific Recommendation of the State Ophthalmic Society.

Research Award to Young

Ophthalmologists

DNB (ophthalmology) degree will also be eligible along with the MS/ MD (ophthalmology) Degree. For presenting thesis work in Young Researchers Session. A total of 12 Research Works done in the form of Theses by young ophthalmologists will be included for presentation. Thesis work of only those PGs will be considered for this Award who are member of the AIOS. Rs.5, 000/- will be awarded to each 2 best Research during the next inaugural session. However, all participants will be given "Certificate of Excellence in Research" for their presentation. The desired participants will have to apply on the prescribed proforma (7 copies).
